Power and Control [RIOT]

Tremaine watched from between her window blinds as a deep, black smog rolled down the street, enveloping the streetlights and shop window neon. It climbed stories, seeming to flood the entire city, hungry to devour them all. Ide gasped and took a step backwards as the strange gas seeped into the room through the cracked wood on her windows. It billowed onto the floor, surrounding her feet and rolling like waves on her carpet. 

"Jane!" She called out, turning to see the housekeeper already behind her, clutching at her head. "Jane?" she asked, cautiously reaching for the young women. Jane snatched at Tremaine's hand, clawing at her and pulling her down. She put her arms over her face, attempting to protect herself from the once sweet girl's vicious attack. Reaching with her mind into Jane's. she found a bubbling turmoil, a mind frothy and unstable, wrapped in a blanket of dark smog. Trying desperately to plant a command, wriggled and squirmed until she managed to knock Jane off of her and into a table, sending a vase crashing to the floor with an almighty crash.  Stop, Jane! You need to stop! Stop! Tremaine willed, but her commands rolled under the black smoke on the girls mind, like paper boats in an ocean storm. 

Jane scrambled around on the floor, and unholy battle cry escaping her lips as she threw herself towards Tremaine once more.

Meg was running down the street trying to outrun a mob. Just too much to fight with, and it seemed like more joined them along the way.
She had no idea how it came to this, but she and Milo had some how ended up here. Running for their lives. But that was not much of an option anymore.
She was sweaty as hell and her legs and abs hurt like hell. Not to mention the burning in her lungs.
Her options were to find a hiding place or just give up and have the mob beat her to death. Or worse. And that didn't really appeal to her. "Milo keep up!!" She called out to him. Not sure if he was still with her or not. Looking back would slow her down.
They turned on to some street, not sure anymore which. She focused on a shop that had light on still. Pushing the door open and waiting for Milo to run in after her before barricading the door.
Falling on the floor and desperately trying to get some oxygen into her burning lungs. They seemed to have ended up in a dry cleaners shop.
The rioters banging at the windows and door. They might have to start running again soon she thought. 
Forcing herself back to her feet. They would need to find a way out or a hiding place. Going to the back room just in time as the molotov cocktail crashed into the front of the shop.

Milo followed after Meg, trying to urge himself from peeking behind his shoulder at the mob. All he had to do right now was keep caught up with the woman in front of him. If he could at least manage that much. "I am!" he called out to her as she told him to keep up. He wasn't athletic, but that didn't mean he didn't know how to run. He followed her around the street corner, grimacing a bit at the sight of the shop but followed after her into the building. Then started to help her barricade the door from the mob. Milo then leaned against the door for some support and rest, but didn't get to have any of that when the mob started banging on the door and windows. 'Just perfect," Milo grumbled under his breath as he watch how the windows and door were fairing up against the banging. He immediately followed after meg to the back room, glancing behind his shoulder to see the Molotov cocktail crashed into the shop.

Lilo yawned tiredly as she followed her daddy towards the door. It had been a long day, for Daddy anyways, and it was later than they normally left for home. Normally she liked the idea of possibly staying up late, but tonight she felt tired. Though perhaps that was because she had been working on making a talisman for protection.

The one she made for Daddy had worn out, so she was working on a new one. And that always took the energy out of her. But the deed was done, and she was eager to give it to him once they returned home, the little wooden necklace sitting in her pocket.

However, before they made it to the door and leave for the night, a noise was heard upstairs. Brows furrowing in confusion, Lilo looked up as more noise was made. Her attention was taken away from it when her daddy kneeled down in front of her and told her to wait as he checked on things. The little girl nodded her head, her chocolate eyes innocent but worried. "Ok Daddy." And with that,s he watched him leave as she held tightly to her doll.

As she waited, she looked out the front window to distract herself. However, what she saw caused her to grow scared. There was a black smoke filling the streets and shadows of people. She didn't understand it, but it caused her to grip her doll tighter. And when she saw people running towards the building, she ran and hid behind the counter. Two people ran inside, one running for the backroom as the other tried to block the door. Lilo whimpered quietly, curling into a ball in her hiding spot and trying her best to be small.

Then loud noises, of people shouting or groaning or something, could be heard and the sound of glass breaking. Closing her eyes, she held tightly to Scrubs. I want Daddy! she thought, whimpering as another loud noise was heard. What followed shortly was the smell of smoke.

Facilier nodded his head at her thanks, before raising an eyebrow and smirking slightly at her comment of something dark and twisted happening. However his smirk was short lived as she looked up at him a frown adorning her face, so Facilier changed his face to one of seriousness. 

He could only stand there as she talked, worried that he might make a wrong move in his speech and feel a 'feeble old women's wrath. This happened quite a lot usually, purely due to the fact that she was intimidating as hell when she wanted to be and that she still held a lot of power.

Almost flinching at the sound of the noise, he turned his head from Tremaine to door instantly, face dropping as Tremaine mentioned Lilo's whereabouts. His body acted before he could reply properly, but you could still hear the faint shout of "Downstairs!" as he practically flew down them.

There was fire, a lot of it at that, and smoke so thick it could easily cloud your vision. Facilier covered his mouth as much as possible with his arm, the fabric almost working as a shield against the smoke. "Lilo! Lilo, where are you!?" he shouted, not being able to see where his little girl might be hiding. He was worried about Tremaine earlier, but this was terrifying! Tremaine was right, Tawton was not safe.

She felt the heat of the flames even in the other room. Turning around and seeing the flames roaring up hungry to consume the shop. And the clothes would provide just ample amount of kindling she was sure.
It was time to find a new place to hide or fight the fires. The solution came easy to her as she heard shouts from the inferno. Exchanging looks with Milo before running to the fire hose. "Help me with this..." She said pulling the hose as much as she could. Turning the water on and using Milo's aid to aim it at the flames. The water pressure made the water hose tough to handle.
"Are you alright mister?!" She shouted into the room.

Tremaine's lips pursed as she watched Facilier leave. Her mind searched the store and its front as she strode across the room to her desk. There were at least a dozen minds there, only four of them were free of the strange black cloud, Facilier and Lilo were among them but she did not know the other two. Taking a key from around her neck, she unlocked the top draw of her desk.  Removing the contents, she flipped through pieces of paper until she found a specific folder. There was only a single sheet of paper and a photograph attached to it, she removed them both, folding them and tucking them safely in her bosom.  Once her draw seemed empty, she took a letter opener from her desk and used to to pry open the base of the draw, revealing a secret compartment.

Within the compartment was a key, a Glock 21 and two dozen magazines.She slipped one magazine in the side of each boot, uncomfortable but required, and stuffed the rest in her pockets and purse, except for one, which she loaded. The key was slid inside of her bra.

She swept from the room, swinging her purse onto her shoulder, the clink of rounds like music to her ears. Her gun was raised before she even reached the last step, firing into the forehead of an idiot trying to get through the residence door. He fell limp, blocking the way for his maddened accomplices, who had already started to disperse and create havoc elsewhere.

The doorway to the shop was hanging by its bottom hinge, the fire eating at its frame and tickling at Tremaine's face. In the flames she heard Facilier calling for the child, and Tremaine felt a something pull at her gut. Her brow furrowed in frustration and she ran down the hallway, away from the flames and towards the back of the shop. She tried to search for Lilo as she ran, but Lilo's mind wasn't on where she was, but on her father, making it more difficult to pinpoint where in the shop she was.

As she burst into the back of the shop her eyes fell upon a young man and women bearing one of the hoses onto the flames. "We tend to use those for cleaning the machines off, but I suppose its worth not burning to a crisp." She said, searching the surfaces of their minds. They had good intentions, from what she could gather and at that moment in time, that was good enough for her.  "Have you seen a child? A little girl about three feet tall, black hair ,brown skin?"

Milo cursed under his breath as he took notice of the fire starting to consume the clothes in the store. If the fie kept on going like this, the whole store and them in it would burn up in flames. His head quickly turned in the direction of a male yelling out a name then over to Meg who was getting the fire hose. He ran over to where she was and helped her aim the fire hose at the fire, coughing a bit at the burning smoke. Suddenly he heard the sounds of doors busting open in the back of the store, and peered over in that direction to see some woman staring over at them. "You don't say!" he remarked with a grimace. Who cared about what these hoses wee used for. It didn't matter in this sitation as long as the water hose took care of the fire then everything was fine. Milo shook his head a bit. "No ma'am. We haven't seen a child." he answered the lady, feeling a bit sick at the thought of a child being burned in this house.

The smell of smoke grew worse, thickening in the air as Lilo curled in on herself. Soon it began to get hotter and the sound of something crackling filled the air. Chocolate eyes opened from being shut clenched tight, only to see a strange glow filling the room. Curious, Lilo poked her head out form beneath the counter to investigate.

Fire was everywhere.

Panic filled up inside her as Lilo dashed back beneath the counter, whimpering as the wood cackled and the fire sizzled. Why was everything on fire? How did that happen? Would she be able to get out? I want Daddy! she thought, clutching her head in her hands in fear. The smoke was growing worse, and though she was low to the ground she felt herself beginning to cough.

She needed to get out. But she didn't know where to go. The little girl tried to look for a way out, peeking from her hiding spot, searching through the blurry vision formed from the heat. She saw what looked to be a safe way, but as soon as she began to crawl out of her hiding spot a large crackle was heard and the flames grew larger. Crying out, she dived back into her spot.

Tears began to pool in her eyes as she whimpered. She was terrified beyond belief. Daddy! Save me! was the plea inside her mind as she shook and cried. and as if her prayers had been heard, she heard a familiar voice cry out her name. Raising her head quickly, Lilo strained to see if she heard her father again. But when nothing was heard, Lilo began to cry harder. "Daddy!" she called out, though her voice wasn't loud enough to raise above the roaring flames.

Something crackled and fell down atop the counter she hid beneath, causing her to scream in fright. "Daddy help!" she bawled out, clutching Scrubs tight to provide some kind of comfort and security. The poor child cried harshly as the counter brought forth flames that tried to lick down at her. But through her crying, her side pressed itself against the wall of her hiding spot, and alerting her to something in her pocket. With tears pouring down and making her vision funny, Lilo pulled back a bit and investigated her pocket. Within her hand, she pulled out the talisman she made for her dad. It was meant to bring protection, cause his job was dangerous.

Maybe it could keep her safe?

With shaking hands, she reached up and placed it over her head and around her neck. A silent prayer going through her mind that her hoodoo magic worked on her as it did on others. Keep me safe. Keep me safe. Keep me safe. she thought, holding tightly to her doll as the flames grew closer. She could feel the intense heat of the fire, burning right at her side.

Meg jumped a little when she noticed the tall older woman walk into the room. She just froze there for a moment to stare at the woman. Just in awe at her. "N-No ma'am... We haven't seen a child...." She said tearing herself to look back at the flames she was attempting to put out. 
Just then they could hear a girl cry out through the flames. The voice came from so close. Giving the control over the hose to Milo and just running in to the room not caring if she got burned. Hearing the girl call out again. Now seeing her under the counter. Without too much thinking she got on her knees. Picked the girl up from under her arms and holding her close. Getting up and running back to Milo and the older woman. 
Kneeling back on the floor and setting the girl there. "Are you alright sweetie?" She asked her.

Facilier was in panic, even though he could quite easily see the young man and woman attempting to hose down the flames at the young woman's call, he still couldn't find Lilo. It wasn't long before Lady Tremaine was shooting towards the entrance of the shop and therefore preventing the maddened crowd from getting in slightly. 
Shouting for Lilo over and over he was desperate for her to call back to him, and she did at last. However, with the fire still going, and smoke still in the room, Facilier could not see his daughter. "Lilo! Lilo where are you!?" he shouted once again, his voice close to cracking. He stumbled blindly, eyes frantic and watery due to the smoke and pure desperation that he couldn't find his Lilo. Flames licked at his body, but he continued to trek through to the various corners of the shop, hoping that he could find her. But what if he didn't? What if he ended up losing his only family? He couldn't even bare to think about it, and so he continued, hoping for reply.

Tremaine glared at the young man, his insolense, in less trying circumstances, would have been paid for, but now was not the time.

Unable to contain herself, Tremaine rushed forward and took Lilo from the young womans arms, checking her over to see if there were any burns or other wounds she let out a breath she did not know she had been holding. She reached out to Facilier's panicked mind with her own. Facilier! She's safe in the back! Get out of that fire before you hurt yourself! Even as her voice in his head sounded chiding and stern as it always was, the relief that washed over her at Lilo's safety was paramount to all else.  "Are you all right Lilo?" she asked, setting the girl back down on her feet.

Tremaine turned to the young women on her knees, and offered her a hand up. "Thank you, young lady." She said, a hint of approval in her usually stern and commanding voice.
